Miscellany

I don't really have anything special to blog about, but I don't like to get out of the habit of blogging on a somewhat occasional basis. So, this will be another Seinfeldian post--that is to say, it will be largely about nothing.

We're starting to settle into a bit of a routine here at Chez Dubois. Chuck is an awesome baby--and if I do say so myself, one adorable little munchkin. Want some pictures? The one to the left was from our trip to May Farms to get pumpkins and have some fun. She's strapped onto me in our Kangaroo Korner adjustable fleece pouch. I only mention that because most of the pictures I have of Chuck are of her in the pouch, and nine times out of ten, we get more comments about the pouch than about the baby. Jillian loaned this pouch to me and I LOVE it. I might need one of my very own!

The next one is of Chuck in her bunny costume at Boo at the Zoo. She was so sweet and snuggly! And warm. Holy moly, that kid is a blast furnace!

Did I post about Boo at the Zoo? Egad. Two days of Halloween fun for the ENTIRE state of Colorado to parade through the zoo. No thankyouverymuch. I don't know if we'll do that again, it was pretty danged crowded. Which brings me to a pet peeve--I don't understand how people can let their kids run wild in public! Do these people not fear daily that they will get kidnapped? I swear, I have nightmares about such things. Well, that and the fact that I hate kids running wild with no parental supervision, and I refuse to be THAT Mom.
The last one here is from Trick or Treating at Daddy's work. Each aisle of cubes had a theme that they decorated around--Eric's was Indian (as in India, not Native Americans) Mythology, and he had to be a giant fun-loving demon who sleeps most of the year and when he wakes up, eats everything in sight.

I know, I know, you're all thinking he got typcast based on his regular behavior, right? ;) Kidding, honey.

ANYWAY, this is Charlotte sleeping on a beanbag next to Daddy's desk. She can literally sleep through ANYTHING. I got majorly lucky and got two awesome sleepers. She's had a rough couple of days with reflux and gas--we see Dr. Noah on Tuesday so I'm going to ask him what we can do to help her out--I'm going to guess that he'll tell me that she's going to grow out of it eventually and we'll need to bide our time--OR, he'll offer me Zantac, which I might take, 'cause it does seem to be bothering her now when she refluxes.

But, seriously? She's getting huge. She's over eight pounds (by the weigh me without the baby, weigh me with the baby, subract the difference mechanism) and nearly 21 inches tall! She's growing like a weed--which I would hope, since she takes a four ounce bottle at every feeding. That's every three hours, round the clock!

She sleeps through the night--which is about six hours for a baby, but that's fine by me. Six hours is more than enough time for me to wake up feeling at least a LITTLE refreshed. She's a very serious, but happy baby--and she spends a lot of time in alert, calm wakefulness. She's doing great at holding up her head and is able to bear some weight on her legs. And she's starting to fill out and getting to be a chubberdy baby! So sweet!

Peyt's doing awesome, too. For Halloween, she was a pink Monster and got more candy than any child should be allowed at ToT. This is her at Boo at the Zoo. Terrifying!

She spent a lot of time at Dad's work roaring at people at full volume and showing off how completely scary of a monster she was.

And she spent the rest of the time stroking her belly like an old man with a beer belly or a pregnant woman. It was so freaking funny.

We're having some better luck with bedtime lately--we instituted a new and significant routine--more bedtime stories, more regularly. We have a book of Disney bedtime stories and we're reading one a night.

A lady at Mom's work gave us a whole mess of chapter books, so I think we might start those when we finish the Disney book. They might be above her reading level, but I think if we read a chapter a night, she'll get a kick out of them. I think they're mostly Junie B Jones books, and I remember that Katie loved them.

She's still not 100% sure she's loving being a big sis. Sometimes she'll tell me that she wishes things were back to how they were before Charlotte came. But, mostly she's just awesome with the baby--she loves to pet her and love on her and call her things like "My little lovey-love" and "My little lovey flower". It's pretty cute.

All in all, we're doing pretty well! We're trying to get all our fun outside playing in before the snow starts to fall in earnest--we got our first snowfall on Friday morning, EARLY in the morning, and it was gone by Friday afternoon. Damn, I love Colorado. ;)

Eric and I are doing well. We recently got out of a financial problem that we'd gotten ourselves into, and it's made a WORLD of difference in our marriage. I don't think I knew how stressed out Eric was about this problem, but in retrospect I can understand why. At any rate, we're doing well, and everything is pretty damned pleasant around our house.

Well, except that it's a blooming mess. I suck at housekeeping. ;) I'm sure I could be excellent at it if I applied myself, but why on Earth would I ever do that? ;) Clearly I'm having more fun playing with my new camera.

Have a great week, everyone!

Pictures! Yay! Pictures!

Chuck (still my favorite baby nickname EVER, and Charlie itself is way up there, too) sounds like a delight. I bet she'll grow up to have a wicked sense of humor like her mommy.

Peyt's costume is so adorable. When did she transition from princesses to monsters?
